More about Edo Popović

Edo Popović, born 1957 in Livno (Bosnia), is a Croatian author and journalist. Since 1968 he has lived in Zagreb, Croatia – or more precisely in Novi Zagreb, a satellite town, which plays a central role in his novel, “Kalda”.

Popovic was a co-founder of Quorum, one of the most influential underground literary magazines in the former Yugoslavia. In 1987, he published his first volume of stories “Ponoćni boogie” (=“Midnight Boogie”) that became the cult book of his generation in Croatia. Since then Popovic has been regarded as a virtuoso, yet provocative chronicler of urban Croatian society and its losers in the wake of society’s transformation.

From 1991 – 1995, he became a reporter filing frank accounts of the Balkan War. Novels, novellas and volumes of stories including this book tip followed this.
